Inaugurato nel 1961 con il patrocinio dell'allora Presidente della Repubblica Italiana , Giovanni Gronchi, il sacrario è posto sotto la chiesa San Giuseppe Carlo. Esso è situato di lato alla piazza centrale di Marzabotto. Questo importante monumento è nato per ricordare le vittime della Strage avvenuta nell'Ottobre 1944.
